These are the mandalas that I created
prior to starting my ‘tapestry of light mandala’……..
I began using watercolour. My love of the natural world was my inspiration. The central point of the mandala represents the creative force from which everything arises….
I love the feel of smooth river pebbles and so challenged myself to paint on something 3D. Using acrylic and always working from the centre…… the pattern just naturally flowed out and evolved…..
My love of colour led me to study the ‘chakras’ (the body’s energy centres ) and began work on each one…..
this became a ‘meditation practice’ for me……working for one hour each morning…… each one took approximately one year…..
Working from the centre….following my intuition…. (inner-tuition ) just allowing the image to flow with no preconceived idea in mind…….. I also incorporated semi-precious stones appropriate for each colour: garnet, carnelian, citrine, chrysophase and rose quartz.
When I had completed the pink ‘spiritual heart’….. I no longer felt the desire to work on paper and the need to continue with the chakra series….. but needed something more tactile……more feminine….
The soft flowing colours of silk paint and embroidery leant itself to my next work…
All the skills I developed over time….. gave me the inspiration to begin my journey into ‘tapestry of light’……
